Psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families

Are you having relationship problems?  Are you struggling with depression or anxiety?  Are you experiencing a difficult life stage or career issues? Are you feeling like your life is not quite where you would like it to be? Are you trying to solve these problems yourself but still feel stuck or misunderstood?

Maybe it’s time to seek counseling

There are times in life when we may need some guidance or mentoring from a professional. There is tremendous value in talking through your ideas, problems, and feelings with a psychotherapist who has the experience, training and expertise to understand what you are going through, and help you create a plan to turn your life around.

Please call or email me to schedule a 15-min free, confidential telephone consultation and we will discuss how we can work together to build a plan to get your life back on track.

J. Oscar Ortiz, LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida with specialized training in various therapeutic modalities.   For the past 20 years, I have had the pleasure of working with children, adolescents, and adults who were struggling in one or more areas of their lives.  I also have a passion for working with couples. I am exceptionally open minded to treat all individuals and couples of all backgrounds and orientations.

My approach is eclectic and focused on helping individuals to work on becoming the best version of themselves so they can successfully manage life’s challenges.  It is important to me that the individuals with whom I work feel validated, respected, and heard. I always try to find the right balance of warmth, caring, and empathy while also being direct and challenging in order to help clients achieve their goals.

I am fluent in English and Spanish.  Se habla Español.

Insurance

To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • What are your mental health benefits?

  • What is the coverage amount or copay per therapy session?

  • How many therapy sessions does your plan cover?

  • If I am not a provider in that network, can you use out-of-network benefits?

  • Is a referral required from your primary care physician?

Please feel free to call me to discuss your insurance options and if I am a provider under your plan. I participate in a limited number of panels.   If I am not an in-network provider under your insurance, we may be able to work on an out-of-network basis.
